Restraining Orders

Connecticut General Statutes Section 46b-15 governs a victim’s rights to seek orders of protection and relief from the court when he or she is subjected to certain threats from another family member or member of his or her household.  It can be difficult to determine whether one is entitled to protection under that statute, both for the victim and the alleged perpetrator.  In addition, victims’ rights organizations can sometimes be overly sympathetic and inexperienced when advising victims of their rights.
